Chip Kelly is going to the NFL

By Michael Bradford

Just one week ago, ESPN reported that Chip Kelly would return to his 12-1 Oregon Ducks. Today, January 16, 2013 ESPN announced that coach Kelly will be the Philadelphia Eagles head coach.

At Oregon Kelly coached for six years and served as head coach the last four years (2009-2012 seasons). He was named 2009 and 2010 Pac-10 Coach of the Year with a 2009-2010 record of 22-4. Kelly coaches a high tempo offense which has been one of the fastest in the NCAA. His overall head coaching record is 46-7 winning three conference titles and two bowl games.

The Philadelphia Eagles went 4-12 in the 2012 NFL season. They struggled to keep there Quarterback Michael Vick healthy as he was sacked 28 times in only 10 games. Kelly will have his hands full looking to build up one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL; and looking for a replacement if Vick doesn’t comeback. Kelly has a long road ahead of him, but im sure the Eagles organization has faith in him. In 2006 before Kelly became offensive coordinator the Ducks went 7-6. One year later Kelly implemented his fast paced offense and the Ducks went 9-4 going on to win the Sun Bowl vs South Florida 56-21. Only time will tell how Kelly will pan out in the NFL but one thing is for-certain it will not be easy.
